It was the eagle drop heard ‘round the world.
In 2014, Paula Creamer was on the second sudden-death playoff hole, looking to defeat Azahara Munoz at the HSBC Women’s World Championship. It was a grinding effort to surpass a 79-start winless streak for Creamer, which included a nine-hole sudden-death playoff loss to Jiyai Shin at the 2012 Kingsmill Championship.
After parring the first playoff hole in Singapore, Creamer said she didn’t hesitate to go for the green on the par-5 the second time around. As the ball settled 75 feet from the pin, Creamer went for the putt of her career and came away with her 10th Tour victory.
This Sunday, fans can relive the final round playoff drama and Creamer’s miracle putt on Facebook Live at 7 p.m. EST on the LPGA Facebook page. Follow along as Creamer, Munoz and players like World Golf and LPGA Hall of Fame member Karrie Webb battled for contention.
“It might be one of my favorite wins, and that's going - taking a pretty big leap right there,” said Creamer after her win. “But you know, it has, it's been almost three years and you know, so much has happened…It has been coming and it just shows you perseverance. That's why I love the game. I work hard for this reason. And holding that trophy, gosh, it was so nice.”
