This new feature "New Kids on the Block" will highlight the 2013 LPGA rookies and take a look at the Tour’s new players on the themes of golf, travel and other miscellaneous topics. The first rookie featured is Julia Boland.
Karrie Webb, Lindsey Wright, Sarah Jane Smith, Katherine Hull and Michelle Ellis are just a few Aussies currently on the LPGA Tour but after finishing eighth on the Epson Tour’s Volvik Race for the Card, Julia Boland’s name can now be added to the list.
The Tamworth, NSW, Australia native didn’t waste any time earning her LPGA Tour card as she was one of two rookies on last year’s Epson Tour to graduate to the LPGA.
In a 2012 season on the Epson Tour that included only one missed cut, Boland took her time easing her way inside the top-10 on the Volvik Race for the Card. Boland earned her first Epson Tour victory at the inaugural Four Winds Invitational which catapulted her inside the top-10 at No. 3. There was no turning back for Boland once she made her debut inside the top-10 as she finished no worse than T38 in the remaining five events after her win. In total, Boland posted an impressive eight top-25 finishes during her rookie season.Look for Boland to make her mark in her rookie season on the LPGA Tour.
