The biggest movers in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings midway through the 2022 LPGA Tour season are the three players who have won major championships so far this year - Jennifer Kupcho, Minjee Lee, and In Gee Chun.
Kupcho made the biggest move amongst the players ranked inside the top 10 in the Rolex Rankings. Kupcho has twice won in the first half of the season, capturing the season’s first major at The Chevron Championship as well as the Meijer LPGA Classic. She began her season ranked No. 46 in the world but following the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship she has cracked the top 10 in the rankings and currently sits at No. 9.
Lee, who earned her second major title with her win at the U.S. Women’s Open presented by ProMedica, was already ranked inside the top 10 in the world at No. 7 in the Rolex Rankings to begin the year. Following her victory at the season’s second major, in addition to her runner-up finish at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, she has climbed to No. 2 in the rankings which matches her highest career ranking.
Chun returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in four years with her victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Chun, who had previously been ranked as high as No. 3 in the Rolex Rankings following her major victories in 2015 and 2016, had dropped to as low as No. 62 in the world. With her win at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship Chun jumped 21 spots to No. 12 in the rankings.
In other notable moves, Nelly Korda who began the year ranked No. 1 dropped to No. 3 in the Rolex Rankings following her tie for 30th at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Jin Young Ko, who unseated Korda at the beginning of the season to overtake the No. 1 ranking, remains atop the standings. Rookie Atthaya Thitikul has also made significant moves in the first half of the season thanks in large part to her maiden win at the JTBC Classic. Thitikul began the season ranked No. 20 and has climbed to her current position at No. 4.
