Wedding planning is no easy task, especially if you’re a full-time professional golfer. But for Chella Choi, compartmentalization seems to come easily. The Korean fired a 3-under 68 in the second round of the Cognizant Founders Cup, and with a December wedding date fast approaching, she’s still all business on the golf course.
“I played pretty good today,” said Choi. “Yesterday I was pretty good. Had a lot of good shots. But today when I started my round, my shots were not good, but I made some really good pars so that's why I played good today.”
Happiness off the golf course seems to have permeated her play as of late – she notched a tie for eighth at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship two weeks ago – and Choi carries that positive attitude into the weekend at Mountain Ridge, just a few shots back of the lead. Sometimes it’s good to have something else to focus on besides competitive golf and with all that’s required of a soon-to-be bride on her mind, Choi can’t help but smile even in the throes of contention.
“You know, for the last 20 years I just played golf, but right now I’m trying to make plans for the wedding so I'm very excited,” she said. “I talk with my boyfriend about my golf game and everything in my life, too. So I'm really good right now. I'm very happy for me.”
