Another season has come to an end and with that LPGA.com caught up with several rookies to get their thoughts on their first season on Tour, what part of their game grew this year and advice for the next class of rookies. This week we check in with Julia Boland to see what she has to say about 2013 and what she'll be doing to prepare for next year.
LPGA: What part of your game has grown the most this year?
BOLAND: Strange answer, but my understanding of the game, and how I play it has developed the most this season.
LPGA: What did you do in your spare time when on the road?
BOLAND: I spent a lot of time with my friends, and I was pretty well involved with bible studies.
LPGA: What was the biggest transition for you this season?
BOLAND: There is a big step-up on the LPGA.
LPGA: When practicing do you listen to you listen to music?
BOLAND: No
LPGA: What is your go to club in your bag?
BOLAND: My putter...does that count?
LPGA: What was your best moment on tour this season?
BOLAND: My brother who lives in Australia came and visited me during the Kingsmill Championship, that was pretty cool.
LPGA: What do you wish someone had told you early in the season?
BOLAND: I think I was warned about everything - some things you just have to learn for yourself.
LPGA: Did you have an “ah ha” moment this year?
BOLAND: I was able to visit my parents who are missionaries in Uganda directly following Portland. During that time I was able to reflect on the season, and get some perspective. I guess my ah ha moment was just realizing how blessed we are to play golf for a living.
LPGA: Earlier this year we asked what tournament you were looking forward to most – now we want to know what was your favorite, the best tour stop on your schedule this year.
BOLAND: I loved my brother visiting, and that was my best finish- so Kingsmill Championship. The fans are awesome and they are very knowledgeable about golf.
LPGA: With the season now over what are you planning on doing during the down time?
BOLAND: Unfortunately I am preparing for the final stage of the Qualifying Tournament, but on the positive side I was home for the longest time since turning pro, so I enjoyed getting involved a little bit more in my community and creating a 'home' routine.
LPGA: How will you prepare for the 2014?
BOLAND: Continue to work hard on my game, but hopefully incorporate some of the things I have learned from this year.
LPGA: What advice do you have for next year’s class of rookies?
BOLAND: Just enjoy the experience, it's tough there and I'm not denying that, but if you made it this far your game is good enough, so just trust it.
